Connecting in Colombia

Shutdowns around the world have created crisis-level needs in places of extreme poverty. Our work is always focused on dignity and empowerment, and a recent connection allowed us to facilitate a unique solution to bring GOOD NEWS to some people in need.

A co-op in Columbia in the business of making and selling hand-made jewelry to provide for their families, was suddenly without a market to sell their products due to lockdown. A church in Texas was burdened to help the people in Colombia.

Through a partnership with Links, the church was able to buy out the inventory of jewelry in Colombia. This was really GOOD NEWS for people who had worked hard in their business. These funds allowed them to have immediate relief from the pandemic while also experiencing the dignity of earning money to provide for their families and to acquire materials to keep making jewelry for future sales.

I recently had the privilege of preaching at Oak Grove in Burleson, Texas, which was the partner church. While I was there, the products from Colombia were made available for donations to missions. Their creativity not only empowered a community of workers, but also raised more money for missions that will be turned into clean water for Colombian families.

This simple act of generosity and GOOD NEWS did even more than that. There is a missionary family in the middle of this connection, and their delivery of GOOD NEWS opened up a people group to the Gospel for the very first time. The missionaries have been praying for years for this group to be receptive, and it was this practical expression of GOOD NEWS that made the difference.

Your generosity matters more than you might even know. It is incredibly common for one simple act to be multiplied in ways far beyond what we could ever imagine.

As always, we are honored to CONNECT PEOPLE to CONFRONT POVERTY and CREATE POTENTIAL.

For the Kingdom,
