Confronting Poverty with Education
In our everyday battle against extreme poverty, education is one of our most effective and efficient weapons. Education is at the center of many of our community development partnerships, and the more education we can provide, the more GOOD we can do together. This statement from UNESCO is significant.
"If all students in low-income countries had just basic reading skills (nothing else), an estimated 171 million people could escape extreme poverty. If all adults completed secondary education, we could cut the global poverty rate by more than half."
Our friends at Abundant Life in Malawi are starting a new school year today, and there is an immediate need to ensure that as many young women as possible are able to take the next step not only in their education but also in their destinies. As the research shows, these gains in education for these kids will give them a hope and a future greater than what they could've imagined.
Currently, we are supporting education in Malawi, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Nicaragua, India, and The Philippines.
A donation as small as $30 can provide education for a student for an entire year. Would you please pray that we would be able to increase our capacity to give kids the gift of education?
