An Angel with a bed...

One of the highlights of our most recent trip was the surprise of having the honor of delivering a bed to a family in desperate need. We jumped in with a team from North Carolina to gather supplies for a family the Hope Project had become aware of. They learned that a lady who was caring for two special needs adults had passed away leaving the responsibility to her husband.

These beautiful people lived a half-mile or so up a mountain where our vehicles couldn't go. So, we gathered groceries, cleaning supplies, mattresses, bedding and more and muled them up to their home. We learned this recent widower was a preacher, and he shared some amazing words with us. He said:

"For the last few days I was praying and asking God when this was going to stop (the pain, the lack of food, the suffering). I prayed that God would send angels. After I prayed, I told God I would now wait for His answer. I know now that I am seeing that answer in your faces. You are an answer to my prayers, and I now pray that God will keep you safe and that He will allow you to keep being a blessing to all the people you are helping."

Our "team" was actually made up of three different teams. Most of us didn't know each other, but in early August 2019, God saw fit to bring us together from different parts of the States to be able to provide GOOD NEWS to this poor family. I hope that you have had the experience of someone telling you that you were an answer to their prayers. It is humbling...even overwhelming. I would never compare myself to an angel, but the truth is, that's the power of GOOD NEWS. Things as simple as mattresses, pillows, some cleaning supplies, and some food were answers to Pastor Fermin's prayers.

We don't have to go to the developing world to be GOOD NEWS to someone else, but we do have to be willing to make ourselves available. We have to have margin in order to be a blessing to other people. People all over the world are praying for God to send angels to see them. When we, like Isaiah, can say, "Here I am send me," we are positioning ourselves to be vessels of GOOD NEWS to people who need it.

If you would like to be a part of a team like this, we would love for you to go on a trip to experience the life-giving joy of taking GOOD NEWS to the poor, reach out to us to learn more.
