Education is Good News
"If you educate a girl child, you have educated the whole village."
- MOSES NJOBVU
For many of our partners and workers around the world, giving good news to the poor includes providing quality education. Education gives children the hand-up they need to be able to break free from generational poverty. It is especially unique in the developing world for young women to have an opportunity to move through higher levels of education, and your support of our Education Initiative this summer will provide this very thing. It is an honor to stand with these vulnerable children and provide them with the chance to learn.
As we get closer to Back-to-School time here in the US, would you also consider helping children in different parts of the world go Back-to-School? Here are some of the places you can make an incredible investment in creating a better future for a deserving child.
We can send 11 young women through an entire year of school in Malawi for only $105 each. If these girls are not going to school, they are likely to end up in low-level jobs that also leave them vulnerable to trafficking and abuse. The opportunity to go to school is a highly coveted experience, and the scholarships we provide will go to a very deserving young lady. In addition to their school fees being paid, they will be supported in other ways that will guarantee their physical, spiritual, and emotional health.
MALAWI NEEDS: $105 per girl or $1200 for all girls
Our friends and partners in Zimbabwe have felt called to provide a faith-based and holistic education opportunity for children in their community. It is the best education available at a very important time in the development of the country. Economic challenges are severe there, and those with the strongest education will have the greatest opportunity to become leaders in their community and help make things better for future generations. The immediate need in Zim is that the local government is requiring them to upgrade all of their desks. A desk costs $50, and there is an immediate need for 40 desks. Funds we collect over that amount will also go to help students in need of scholarships. Currently, half of the students at the school are in need of financial support.
ZIMBABWE NEEDS: $50 per desk or $2000 total
In South Asia, our partners are serving in a place where many are persecuted simply for being Christian. 98% of the country is non-Christian, and economic stability in many communities is lacking. The schools we support in South Asia are built in areas of slave labor camps. In cooperation with slave-owners, we are able to negotiate the opportunity for the children of slaves to go to school. Those who complete their education have the opportunity to receive an even higher level of education to help them break from poverty's grip. An additional advantage of standing with our partners here is that we are also creating jobs for teachers, and in many cases, underground churches are being planted as the schools prosper.
SOUTH ASIA NEEDS: $10 per student or $6650 per year
In Nicaragua, The Hope Project tutoring program is making an incredible difference in the lives of hundreds of children. Not only are they getting to eat every day, but they have also gone from the lowest performers in the school to the highest. Now, these children have a trajectory for either university-level education or vocational training. Each opportunity gives them the power to break free from extreme poverty. We would like to cover the cost for at least one teacher in Nicaragua. Can you help us make this a reality?
NICARAGUA NEEDS: $300/month or $2400 per year
