Links Family,

Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out to us about the hurricane that came through Houston. We were a direct hit as we spent many ours on the “dirty side” of the storm which is where the most intense winds are. We experienced gusts of wind up to 80 miles per hour, and huge amounts of rain.

Over 2 million people are without power, supplies are running low as most stores can’t run without power. Gasoline is at a premium in some parts of town, but overall it could have been much worse.

Please do be in prayer for the Houston area as much of the city is without power, and cell phone outages are making it challenging for some to get help or ask for it. We are also having 100 degree days with humidity at 90%. It’s a dangerous time for vulnerable people to be without power.

The other scary thing is this is predicted to be a very active hurricane year, and we were already hit with only the 2nd storm. The other hard thing is that we were hit with an unexpected storm with no warning back in May that brought very similar damage. Our community was just getting back to whole from that storm as this one has created a lot of damage.

We are grateful for the Lord’s protection during the storm, and we are doing our best to prepare to serve people for the next one as well.

I also want to let you know that many of our Links missionaries are based in and around Houston which means a lot of extra expenses are being experienced. Additionally, many are helping others that are displaced or in need. Your prayers are so appreciated, but your financial generosity in supporting our team is vitally important as well right now.
